TKJ Standing Turntable

A chance meeting with the wonderful ceramic artist Magdalene Odundo at the International Ceramics Fair, Aberystwyth in 2019 led me to this wheel.  I was demonstrating The McMeekin wheel at the  event and our discussion opened my mind to the possibility of a stripped back version of  a momentum wheel.  A wheel for hand builders that could turn on its own momentum and whose height  could be adjusted as a pot grows.

Extra wide wheel head for support

With a 40cm diameter wheel head the turntable provides a generous workspace to place tools as well as work or to  accommodate even  the most ambitious chargers!

The wheel head is mounted onto a stainless steel shaft with a carefully designed and fully encased double bearing  system.  This solution offers free movement of the wheel head with the flexibility to lock the wheel in position.

Fully adjustable without compromising stability

The wheel head height is adjusted using the locking handle on the shaft:
  • Minimum height: 76cm
  • Maximum Height: 122cm

For increased stability, especially  when fully extended, the turntable has adjustable feet. These can be added or removed as required or can be used to  permanently fix the turntable to the floor (or to add wheels if required).

The turntable has been tested for loads up to 100kg.
